Lee Wieczorek "An Ultimate Warrior"
This Saturday night will see one of the best kept secrets on the MMA scene step into the cage to once again defend his title. Lee Wieczorek the UWC Lightweight Champion will take on veteran Paul Rocha at UWC 19 as he looks to extend his winning streak to five fights, but for now Lee was kind enough to find time for us at AddictedMMA.AddictedMMA: Hi Lee it's been a while since we last saw you in the cage; what have you been up to since your last fight (October 2011
Lee: Hi Steve, since my last fight not too much has been going on, I've just been doing the same old stuff really. Work, train and sleep. I was due to fight in February but unfortunately I got injured.
AddictedMMA: You've obviously been training hard at TSG over recent months; which area(s) of your game do you feel that you've improved the most over the last few months?
Lee: At TSG we all train hard and push each other, no one wants to be the first person to stop when sparring, wrestling or rolling. What I feel I have improved on is everything. I don't choose a specific area to improve on, I try to stay consistent and keep training everything.
AddictedMMA: I bet June 2ndcan't come soon enough now can it?
Lee: No it can't!! I'm looking forward to getting in there and having a great fight.
AddictedMMA: You're fighting a solid veteran at UWC that night in Paul Rocha. What are you expecting from that fight?
Lee: I expect nothing less than the best Paul Rocha that night, and look forward to testing myself against him. I believe it's going to be an exciting fight for the fans down at UWC. So I'm expecting and prepared for a WAR!
AddictedMMA: You've won your last five fights with four of them inside the first round. Can we expect this to read five out of six first round finishes come June 3rd?
Lee: It would be nice, but I've been training hard and I'm ready for the fight to go where it goes and take however long it takes. If I can finish the fight in the first round great, if not I've trained hard and feel ready to go the distance.
AddictedMMA: We talked previously about your mentality when defending your UWC Lightweight Title and you told me that you didn't even know the previous bout was a title fight until you get your belt back at the end! How do you put that to the back of your mind and does it help to treat a title fight like any other fight?
Lee: I guess I treat every fight like a title fight so if it's up for grabs for the other guy or not it makes no difference to me, I'm there to get the "W"!
AddictedMMA: The card is looking pretty impressive for UWC 19. What other matches have caught your eye?
Lee: I always look forward to seeing one of my best training partners Walter (Gahadza) fight, the guy is a beast! He is always improving in the gym and working hard, I like his style too because his aggressive when he fights. To be fair the match making at UWC is always spot on so all the fights will be great!
AddictedMMA: Is there anyone you'd like to thank?
Lee: First I'd like to thanks Dan Burzotta at TSG for training me, Alex my manager at ukmma1, Dan Osman my Strength and Conditioning coach for getting me into shape, Jacob at www.clinchgear.co.uk & www.osakafightgear.com for sponsoring me, my girlfriend for putting up with me when dropping weight also. All my family and friends for their support and last but not least all my TSG team mate for their help in this fight camp. Also AddictedMMA for the interview!
AddictedMMA: Thanks for your time today Lee and all the best for June 2nd!
Lee: Thank-you Steve.
