What is Your:
Career High: Starring in my first main event at Shock N Awe 9 ranks in my list of career highs so far. You're always going to remember your first time. But at the top of the list has to be when Cage Warriors came knocking and Intensiti Fight Management signed me up. Most people hadn't seen what I was about and I think I opened a lot of eyes on my debut. It was great to see on Twitter that Graham Boylan was impressed.
Career Low: Whenever I lose! Although I have to be grateful in the fact that I learnt an awful lot from both those losses which have helped me become the fighter I am today. Enough on that subject...
Career Ambition? I have several goals ranging from short term to long term. Of course everyone wants to fight in the UFC. My ambitions at this moment in time are to keep taking scalps and ultimately fight for and win the Cage Warriors Bantamweight Title. But it doesn't stop there...
Toughest Ever Fight? My toughest fight would probably have been against Benjamin Aaron Davis in Ireland for the simple fact of where I was in that stage of my career. I believe it was my second pro fight in my career, my first in another country and against a very skilled opponent in Ben. I remember the crowd was really behind him. I was a punch bag for the first round and can imagine everyone had pretty much written me off. I kept pressing for the takedown and I remember hitting several in the round which he did really well at defending. I think I managed to take him down once and he pretty much bounced straight back up. Most fighters would have broken at that point but I kept a positive mindset. The punch bag theme continued into the second round but my relentless pursuit of the takedown finally resulted in dumping him to the mat. The second half of the round saw me deliver a ground n pound clinic. Ben is a tough lad and took it all, taking a moment to smile at me during my onslaught. It was a great fight which ended when Ben could no longer continue and did not come out for the third round. I remember the crowd turning during that fight and cheering me. It kind of reminds me of Rocky 4. If anyone has that fight please send me a copy. I know me and Bri would love to get a copy of that fight!
Favourite Ever Fight? My main event on Shock N Awe 9 has to be one of my favourite fights for several reasons. Not only because it was my first 'Main Event' but because you can really see how much I have evolved as a fighter when looking back at previous Shock N Awe events I had previously fought on. I wasn't a big fan of Mr. Pink either so enjoyed putting the hurt on him. I give him credit though, he is one tough SOB! Also it is special as it was my first main event and also my last fight for the company before I signed to Cage Warriors. It was a fitting end to that stage of my career.
Favourite way to end a fight? I would say the 'Running Big Splash'. Fans of old school WWE and The Ultimate Warrior will know what I mean. Unfortunately since I'm yet to hit that in a fight, instead I will just have to settle with breaking my opponent!
Favourite ever MMA event? Probably UFC 40 Vendetta just because I love watching Ortiz vs Shamrock. It is one of the few MMA DVD's I own and I can't remember how many times I've watched it. It used to be a ritual of mine that I'd make a point of watching that fight on fight day and envision laying a Tito style beatdown on my opponent.
Favourite MMA Promotion? I'm loving being a part of Cage Warriors. They are doing great things and I'm very thankful to be signed to the promotion. #NotBadForASmallShow
Favourite Movie? There are far too many to choose from. So how about a set of books instead? I highly recommend The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy by Stieg Larsson. The films are not where near as good as the books.
Favourite Artist/Band? Watching Coach Brian Adams sing "Gold" on Karaoke.
Favourite Food? I love food, Period! But if I had to choose it would be a toss-up between Nachos and Wings in Daytona Sauce.
Favourite Alcoholic Beverage? Jager Bomb
Favourite Sport (Apart from MMA)? Beer Pong
WHO:
Is your favourite fighter of all time? "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz
Would you most like to fight (any weight and era)? Russell Brand. Do I really need a reason...?
Oh and if we are talking about fighters than it would be Ben Stark. My gameplan would be to make him verbally tap and admit cats are better than dogs (inside joke between me and Ben).
Would you want alongside you in a bar fight? Dalton or the 'The Cooler' as he is known from the legendary film Roadhouse.
Is your favourite MMA Ring Girl? I can't tell you who but what I can say is check out the Shock N Awe Ring Girl competition on Facebook. It is really hotting up! Although I can tell you who my favourite ring boy is and that would be David Swann. Not only is he a looker but the man can cook as well. He certainly gets my vote!
Is your inspiration in life? Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. For me they are two examples of people who chased their dreams and became icons in their respective sports/careers.
Random:
Pick three of your team mates and describe them using only one word?
I've opted for hash tags instead:
1. #GetInLineForTheCWFCBantamweightTitle - James 'Power Weasel' Pennington
2. #SignBilly - Phil 'Billy' Harris
3. #DoesNotHaveAMuteButton - Callum 'Little Country' Jones
Do you have any superstitions? No but my missus believes in all that rubbish so I have to pretend I do too.
First thing you eat after weighing in? I head straight for the Krispy Kreme's for the ultimate carb loading experience.
What is the stupidest thing you have ever done? Doing a backflip off a wall whilst drunk and breaking my leg... Oh no wait that was Callum Jones! #GymRetard
What is the worst injury you've ever suffered? Luckily I have been blessed in life and never broken a bone in my body. Either that or I have lived a sheltered life thus far. My worst injury was a sprained pelvis that I suffered in early 2010.
And Finally....What are you Addicted to? Watching Turtle Man! For those of you that don't know check out the TV show 'Call of the Wildman'. It's fricking awesome!
