Robbie Lewis talks UIC 8 with AddictedMMA

Robbie Lewis is a young man with a bright future. Training out of Tillery Combat Robbie is honing his skills on a daily basis down in Abertillery, Wales. Bringing a diverse brand of striking and submissions into the cage, if you're standing across the cage from him you're not in for an easy night.

On August 4th that puzzle will be one Liam Sekam will be looking to overcome at Ultimate Impact Cagefighting 8. A talented mixed martial artist himself it'll be challenge he'll relish. At the end of this bout we will have witnessed two young talents in a fight that will more than likely have had the crowd on the feet for the duration. One thing is for sure UIC 8 is shaping up to be one hell of a night!

AddictedMMA: Hi Robbie, it's good to talk again. You're fighting Liam Sekam on August 4th at UIC 8; how excited are you for this one?

Robbie: Hi guys, first of thanks for your time, and yes I am very, very excited to get back in there. I've started to get excited already for this one, and that does not normally happen until a week out. I wish it was this weekend to be honest.

AddictedMMA: You train at Tillery Combat under a man AddictedMMA have the upmost respect for, Mr. Richard Shore. Tell us how training at Tillery under "Shakey" has helped you as a martial artist and as a person?

Robbie: The man is a legend in my eyes, he has done so, so much for me as a person never mind as a fighter, I would not be in that cage if it wasn't for Shakey. He's given me the skill and self-belief that I can do whatever I want, like he has done for many of the fighters at Tillery Combat. Without him Tillery Combat would be just another MMA gym, he is the reason the club is going places.

AddictedMMA: You have made a great start to your budding career and that you currently sport a 3-0 record. How confident are you that after your fight it'll be upped to 4-0? And how do you see the fight going?

Robbie: Records are for DJs, I just look at my last fight and see if I can do a better job this time, I train with top guys so I am always looking to get better and better. I try and look at my last fight and see what I done wrong or could have done to put a better performance on. I will be doing everything in my power come the 4th August to be coming home with the "W".

AddictedMMA: I saw Liam fight Ash Harris at UIC 6 last October and I was impressed with what I saw. Have you done any research on Liam and has that changed the way you will approach the fight?

Robbie: Liam is a good fighter, I have watched one video once and I was very impressed, will it change my game plan? NO. I will be trying to finish Liam like I try and finish everybody, I have big respect for any man/woman who has the balls to climb in that cage and fight, but I want to win every time so it could be anyone stood across from me and I would feel the same.

AddictedMMA: UIC 8 is stacked with some insanely good looking fights which is a testament to Paul Sutherland's matchmaking abilities. Apart from your own which fight are you looking forward to the most?

Robbie: The main even baby, it got war all over it and I think both men will want that belt bad! But like you said Paul Sutherland's matchmaking has made this show a very good one from top to bottom, we are all in for a great night of MMA thanks to Paul and his team.

AddictedMMA: Is there anyone you'd like to thank or send a shout out to?

Robbie: Yes please, my team mates at Tillery Combat are the best I could ask for so a massive shout out to those guys.

I would like to thank my sponsor Ross at Impact LPA he is yet another top bloke who cannot do enough for me and I am buzzing with the work he's doing for me.

I'd like to thank all my followers, friends and family; support is everything.

But the biggest thank you goes to the main man Shakey, he's a living legend. I owe everything to that man.

And obviously you guys for my first proper interview, lots of love to the Addicted crew x.

AddictedMMA: It's time for our signature question; outside of MMA what is Robbie Lewis Addicted to?

Robbie: Money. The more I have the happier I am. It makes the world go around in my eyes.

AddictedMMA: Thanks for your time Robbie and good luck for August 4th.

Robbie: Thank you guys, I'll see you on August 4th Steve. Much love ADHD.
