UIC 8: Marc Allen "Watch Out For The Head Kicks"
Marc boasts an impressive wrestling game, add to that an ever improving stand-up plus a tidy jiu-jitsu game Marc is feeling very confident ahead of his fight next weekend.
AddictedMMA: Hey Marc it's good to talk today, you're squaring off against veteran Mark Tucker at UIC 8; how is training at Trojan going?
Marc: Hi Steve. Training is going great. This has got to be one of my best training camps I've had and I'm ready to get it on!
AddictedMMA: Mark is a high level BJJ practitioner and grappler; have you been putting in the extra hours with Chico (Mendes) in preparation for the bout?
Marc: Yeah Chico has been ruffing me up in the cage (laughing). It's been great working with him as he is good to train with as well as being a good coach.
AddictedMMA: You're currently riding an impressive win streak. How confident are you that you'll be extending that run after this bout?
Marc: I think it's an eight win streak. This includes some semi-pro fights as I entered a semi-pro 8 man tournament sometime after my first pro fight against Scott Clist. I'm very confident that I will be coming home with another win then getting very drunk straight after.
AddictedMMA: Where do you see your main advantages in this bout? What will win you the fight?
Marc: I feel that I have a good range of tools that I can bring to this fight. The strongest part of my game is my wrestling but I feel just as confident with my stand-up.
So watch out for the head kicks (laughs).
AddictedMMA: UIC 8 is stacked with some insanely good looking fights which is a testament to Paul Sutherland's matchmaking abilities. Apart from your own which fight are you looking forward to the most?
Marc: I'm definitely looking forward to Tino's (Ben Constantine) fight, as like everyone else in Gloucestershire is. But I'm also going to be interested in watching my team mate George Thomas in action in his first semi-pro fight. George has great skills and never gets tired.
AddictedMMA: The main event is a fight I'm itching to see. The trilogy fight between Ben Constantine and Lee Caers, I know what's coming but how do you see that fight going?
Marc: I can tell you now that Tino will be taking that belt home. For Tino's last match against Caers he did not have the best of training camps. But since then he has put so much time and effort into his training and conditioning. As much as I would like to see this go all five rounds I really don't think it will. My prediction is 3rd round TKO/KO.
AddictedMMA: Is there anyone you'd like to thank or send a shout out to?
Marc: I would like to thank Paul Sutherland as always for being an awesome coach and manager. Big thanks to my coaches Chico Mendes, Saeed Esmaeli and Jon Pitman. All my team mates at Trojan Free Fighters. I would also like to thank Sci-MX nutrition for their great products that get me through all the hard training sessions.
AddictedMMA: And now it's time....for our signature question! Aside from MMA what is Marc Allen Addicted to?
Marc: Relentless and ice cream. I love the sugar haha!
AddictedMMA: Thanks for your time Marc and good luck for August 4th.
Marc: Thank you for talking to me. Hope you enjoy my fight.
