Leonardo Santos Talks Cage Warriors 7
Leonardo Santos is a man that could tell a story or two. He is a Brazilian Jui Jitsu World Champion many times over, and once he had achieved everything he felt he needed to, he decided it was time to give MMA a try. Having amassed a 10-3 record in fights all around the world, Santos is now set to fight in Jordan at Cage Warriors Fight Night 7.On an excellent four fight win streak that includes victories in Brazil, England and Japan, AddictedMMA were fortunate enough to be able to catch up with Brazilian BJJ wizard and find out how he feels about fighting in Jordan for the first time, and what problems he feels his opponent Mark Holst may pose for him:
"He is tall and technical guy, I believe that will be a tough fight. I have never been in Jordan, but I hope after the fight I have some time to go around. I hope everything goes very well."
Santos is a member of the world famous Nova União team, giving him access to some of the top fighters in BJJ and MMA in the world. The team lists like a "who's who" of combat sports, and Santos feels that the high level calibre of his team mates will help be ready for any given occasion.
"I'm training at Nova União, that is my team for all of my life. There we have a lot of tough guys and two UFC world champions, Jose Aldo and Renan Barão. So, I'm ready to fight anybody and fight in any situation."
Santos is a guy that has grappling credentials that include finishing as a bronze and a silver world medallist, a four times world cup champion and at one time was considered one of the top three BJJ practitioners in the world. He is also a member of a fight team that includes some of the best fighters in world MMA, so who is it that inspired Santos at the time he considered moving into crossover? The answer is perhaps no 'big' surprise!
"I always like to see Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira fighting. I'm a huge fan of him.
I miss BJJ, but I love MMA, maybe one day I will return to Jiu Jitsu."
And so with Cage Warriors Fight Night 7 all set for Saturday 1st September in Jordan there is little doubt that the promotion is dealing in serious talent at the moment. With Santos lined up against Mark Holst and Pavel Kusch set to take on Chris Fields in the main event, this will be an event well worth catching live as it unfolds.
Santos had a few final comments to make as he expressed his thanks to those that have helped him and answered the telling AddictedMMA question; besides MMA what are you addicted to?
"Thanks to God, all my team and my family for always supporting me. I Love watching movies and watching soccer. Specifically Rocky, Batman, Spiderman and Gladiator."
AddictedMMA would like to say a BIG thank you to Leonardo Santos for taking the time to share his thoughts with us and we would also like to say good luck ahead of his fight at Cage Warriors Fight Night 7.
