Predicted for Addicted: UFC 146
This weekend will see the heavyweights collide! Topping the bill is a championship fight between champion Junior Dos Santos and former champion Frank Mir.On paper this one looks a simple choice....will "Cigano's" heavy hands and near perfect stand-up game be victorious? Or will Frank Mir be able to get the fight to the floor and "His world" where he can try to get his submission game going?
We asked the professionals and this is what they have decided, and it's a landslide decision!
James Thompson - PRIDE Veteran
I feel a bit sorry for Mir because everyone (including myself) wanted, and was looking forward to seeing Reem fight Dos Santos but alas it wasn't to be. I think Mir's stand up has got better and his ground game is up there with the best. But how does he get a guy down who hasn't been taken down once? I can't remember when I saw a fighter spend less time on the ground. I just can't see it and since that's the only way I can see him winning. I have to give it to Dos Santos, round three KO.
Check out James' great blogs at www.colossalconcerns.com
Oli Thompson - UFC Heavyweight
Frank to be knocked out in the first, Big Nog nearly had him out so JDS shouldn't have a problem.
Phil De Fries - UFC Heavyweight
I'm going to have to say Dos Santos; not an easy decision though. I think Mir stands a better chance than most.
Brad Pickett - UFC Bantamweight Contender
I think Dos Santos will win as he is a much better athlete but sometimes you never know with these big guys!
Iain Martell - UCMMA Light Heavyweight Contender
Late first round KO or midway through the second for Dos Santos I think. It's going to be a great card.
Sean McCorkle - UFC Veteran
I say JDS via Knock-Out, round three.
Rob Sinclair - BAMMA Lightweight Champion
Dos Santos by TKO, round two.
Tim Hague - UFC Veteran
Dos Santos, first round KO!
Jay Mortimore - Cage Warriors Heavyweight
I'm going for JDS, he's my favourite fighter at the moment. Mir is tough but I think JDS will be too fast and knock him out in the first or second.
Lee Taylor - UK Lightweight
Junior all the way! He hits hard and he's mobile.
Lee Wieczorek - UWC Lightweight Champion
My prediction for the Dos Santos vs. Mir fight is Dos Santos! I think his going to be too much for Mir with his hand speed and power and see him ko'ing or tko'ing Mir!
Jack Mason - Cage Warriors Middleweight
Dos Santos by any way he likes!
Rob McCrum - UK Bantamweight
JDS by KO; can't see it going any other way. Although if Mir gets hold of a limb he's got a chance but he's got to get that close.
Sean Salmon - UFC Veteran
This is a great fight, but I was more excited for Cain vs. Mir. I hope they still make that fight in the future!!
Anyway, I am going to pick Mir. I am a fan of both, but I think Mir's stand up is good enough to not cost him the fight and I believe his ground game is going to win it for him.
Obviously, I would not be surprised if one of them ends up knocked out, but I think the ground is going to decide it.
Matt Ewin - UK Middleweight
Dos Santos.
Dayman Lake - UK Heavyweight
I've got to go with the aggression of JDS ! He's the man, I can't see Mir being the man to deal with him either.
Ché Mills - UFC Welterweight
My prediction is JDS by KO/TKO...maybe 2nd or 3rd round; I think he's too fast at that weight for anybody and he'll be well prepared for Mir's takedowns.
Carl Noon - UK Middleweight
I'm going to say Dos Santos by a brutal KO in the 1st round.
Chris Stringer - Lightweight European ISKA Champion
I don't think Mir has the chin to stand up to Dos Santos' powerful hands! I think Mir will be better on the ground but I don't think he will be able to take it there and Dos Santos will punch his lights out!
Leigh Cohoon - UK Welterweight
It's got to be JDS! Mir will not be able to get him down and will therefore suffer!! End of!! Next question please.
Ben Smith - UCMMA Light Heavyweight Contender
Mir's getting knocked the F out!!
Mark Godbeer - Bellator Heavyweight
I'm going with Dos Santos, round one KO. I think Mir will look for the takedown and after several failed attempts he will have no choice but to stand and the hands of Dos Santos will come into play ending in a knock-out.
Jacob Volkmann - UFC Lightweight Contender
Dos Santos, KO, second round.
Neil Grove - Bellator & SFL Heavyweight
Dos Santos is here to reign for quite some time.
I would love to see his ground control and submissions skills. Unless he knocks Mir out in the first round, we might be in for just that!
No 'horsemeat' eating or TRT/ HRT's in this one, I hope! Sick of the shit going around tarnishing a great sport!
Kenny Moyston - UK Welterweight
JDS via KO early on in round three.
Dean Amasinger - TUF Veteran
I think Mir has more ways to win but Dos Santos' one way to win is just so effective. I'm going for a Dos Santos second round TKO.
Peter Sobotta - UFC Veteran
