Renzo Gracie Gearing Up For A UFC Return
Crazy as it may sound, we may be seeing the legendary Renzo Gracie back in the Octagon once more, as the Brazilian grappling wizard is looking to return to the UFC one more time.Talking to MMAJunkie.com, Gracie stated the following:
"I'm getting ready to fight again." Gracie told MMAjunkie.com. "I have a six-fight contract with no predetermined time frame. I still have five fights to go, so I plan to jump back into it."
Renzo Gracie (13-7-1-1) is a 6th degree black belt, and made a great start to his career, going ten fights without a loss, and beating Maurice Smith and Oleg Taktarov. It was in 2000 that things turned bad for the Brazilian, as he lost his first fight to Kiyoshi Tamura, starting an awful streak of just four wins in eleven fights, including losses to Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba, BJ Penn, and Carlos Newton.
Gracie was last seen in the cage back at UFC 112, which took place in Abu Dhabi. Gracie fought Matt Hughes, who is an old foe of his family, and was picked apart on the way to a second round TKO loss.
It remains to be seen if Gracie is serious about returning to the cage at 45 years of age. But rest assured, if / when he does, we will have all the details here at Addicted MMA.
