Cain Velasquez: I Don't Care About Overeem, I Want What Was Promised
"You being the champion need to fight the guy next in line, not pick and choose who you fight. With whatever Overeem is going through, I don't really care. I just know what I've done to get here. Whatever I was promised, I was promised. That's just how I see it. I definitely want that fight with Junior, so I'm going to do everything in my power to try to get that fight happening. We'll just see how it plays out, I guess. We'll just have to talk to Dana a little bit here and there and see where he stands. The only thing you can do is try to get this fight going. That's what I want. I want this fight."After Dana White revealed that UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was pushing hard for a fight with the currently suspended Alistair Overeem, former champion Cain Velasquez took to this past weeks edition of The MMA Hour to stake his claim for what was promised to him.
Speaking at the post fight media scrum, White told of his meeting with the Brazilian champion, revealing that Dos Santos was so riled up by what Overeem has been saying, he called him a punk, and stated that he wants to knock him out before getting around to the eventual rematch with Velasquez.
30 year old Cain Velasquez (10-1) was promised the rematch with Junior dos Santos after entering a completey dominating performance over former Strikeforce standout Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva at UFC 146. Velasquez dropped Silva straight away, and pounded him until blood was leaking from the Brazilian in brutal fashion.
